Analysis of Trauma Cases with incorporation of ultrasound images

  • Case Study 1: A 30-year-old victim of a motor vehicle accident with suspected abdominal injuries. FAST scan revealed free fluid in Morison’s pouch, indicating possible liver laceration. Prompt surgical intervention was initiated based on these findings.

The curvilinear probe was placed in the RUQ, showing hypoechoic fluid collection in Morison’s pouch, suggestive of hemoperitoneum.

  • Case Study 2: A 45-year-old woman with a fall from height, presenting with chest trauma. eFAST was performed, revealing the absence of lung sliding on the left side, consistent with pneumothorax. An emergency chest tube was placed.

Using the linear probe, the absence of lung sliding and the ‘barcode sign’ on the left hemithorax were identified, indicative of pneumothorax.
